Old Book Vol. 1         Legend of the 27 True Runes

THE BIRTH OF THE 27 TRUE RUNES

“In the beginning there existed only long, long Darkness.

Over time, Darkness grew lonely. The loneliness became a heavy sorrow. Darkness eventually cried one tear.

From the tear were born two brothers: Sword and Shield.

Sword said it could cut all that exists. Shield replied that nothing could even scratch it.

They fell into war. Their war lasted for 7 days and 7 nights.

In the end, Sword breached Shield, and Shield broke Sword.

Pieces of Sword rained down to make the sky. Pieces of Shield rained down to make the earth. Their battle flashes became the stars.

The 27 gems adorning Sword and Shield transformed into the 27 True Runes. And thus the world began.”

Most know this account, the legend of the 27 True Runes. Few know though, the story after this part.
The 27 True Runes were scattered all over, becoming the first life on this world. But as Darkness before them, existence was lonely on this mighty world without any other life on it. They came together to ease their loneliness. Still, they were bored.
The True Runes passed the time by testing their powers. The Sun Rune decided to outshine the stars that gave them light, and created the Sun. The Night Rune grew jealous, and created Night to block out the sun. The Mind Rune created clouds, so the Runes could imagine shapes in them. The True Wind Rune created winds to blow the clouds all over. The True Earth Rune grew jealous of the sky, and made great quakes to make mountains and ravines to draw attention to the Earth. The True Water rune made the oceans to draw attention to the sea. One by one, the runes tried to show off their powers and the world as we know it formed.
Still, for all their achievements, there was no other life. The first race to be created was humans. The Humanity Rune created the bodies of men and women, but they lacked life. It asked the other runes for help, and Rune of Life and Death used its powers to breathe life into humanity. Intrigued, the Dragon and Demon Runes quickly created their own races, the dragons and demons. The Rune of Life and Death blessed them with life as well.
Still, the people were ill, sick, and dying. The runes hadn’t created a sustainable world. The Mind Rune taught the runes what they needed to do, and so the runes began to remake the world again. The Sun and Night runes made the world more temperate. The True Earth Rune made crops for the humans to eat. The Beast Rune made cattle for them to raise. The True Fire gave the gift of fire to cook their food. The True Water purified water to make drinking water, and rain to water crops. This is the last time the 27 Runes worked together.
For as the three races prospered, the people began to worship their creators, the True Runes. The people prayed and thanked the runes who gave them the greatest gifts. The other runes grew jealous of this. So one by one, the 27 True Runes would give greater and greater gifts to the races who gave them more reverence. Such gifts included giving humans imagination from the Imagination Rune, but giving Logic to the demons. The True Wind Rune and True Fire Runes favored the Dragons, and gave the power to fly great distances and breathe fire. The Beast Rune gave control over great beasts to the Demons. This method of gift giving, favoritism, and worship continued for some time.
Then came the bickering; the True Runes argued over who had created the greatest race. Fighting began between the True Runes and their followers. This fighting nearly destroyed the world, until the Runes created the three worlds, and separated the races for their own good. It was at this point too, that the 27 True Runes decided they too needed to be separated for the good of the world they had created. They chose worlds to inhabit, and for the first time chose hosts to bear their powers. In these first hosts, the 27 Runes scattered themselves across the three worlds, teaching their powers to their favorite races.
Since those days, the 27 True Runes have had multiple hosts. Some of the runes have continued to use their powers to show off, such as the Night Rune creating the undead. Still, the world has entered a stable existence, with the 27 True Runes each governing a portion of the world.
This is the story of the 27 True Runes, and how the world began.

Old Book Vol. 2         True Runes Theory

((A note explaining this book; the details of the runes are written by Hikusaak, though the text is edited by Brian, mostly as to where the True Runes are located now. For example, Hikusaak’s notes might originally have read that the Wind Rune was missing, and there might be two notes by Brian underneath, stating that Luc had it for a time, and that it went dormant again, and so on.  I will pinpoint phrases where it makes a difference, but I will only do so for now as deemed important))

The 27 True Runes that govern our world are all known to have a variety of powers and personalities.  This book chronicles what we know of them and locations as known.

1. Beast Rune: This rune controls Animalistic rage and passion, and gives command of many types of beasts, notably wolves. The usage of this rune often requires a blood sacrifice to unleash its full power.  A highly unstable rune as it drives those under its influence to rage of inhuman levels, making its powers harder to control.  Like the wild animals it has dominion over, it is nearly impossible to tame.  We acquired it from a village that surrendered to us peacefully and willing gave us the rune, but with a promise: the rune would one day return to the village, and any who abused the power of the rune would have to repay the price of its power with blood.
Brian’s notes: It was notably used – or perhaps abused – by Luca Blight of Highland. He is known for his insatiable bloodlust, anger, and rage. How much of this rage – if any – was stirred up by the Beast Rune is speculation.

Location:  Last seen at L’Renoulle, Highland. It is rumored that it will return to the village of the beast rune one day.

2. Blue Moon Rune: This rune controls Compassion and Destruction.  It is also known to create vampires, who are given the ultimate test of this rune; will the vampire show compassion to humanity and chose destruction of the self, or chose to destroy their humanity and embrace the life of a vampire, showing no compassion to the lives they steal to fuel their undead bodies?
Of note, Vampires are the children of the Blue Moon Rune, but all undead, vampires included, are bound to the Night Rune, the rune responsible for the first undead. We speculate that the Blue Rune liked the Night rune’s idea of undead, and improved the design to create vampires.  See the night rune’s entry for more.
The first vampire, Sierra, took the rune and used it to create a village of vampires who didn’t need to feed on humans, circumventing the rune’s curse by having the entire village collectively draw from its power, and not just one host. This changed when a vampire named Neclord stole the rune, and the rune’s challenge began its test of those who already existed. Many died, but some remained as the creatures we know as vampires today. This information was gathered by a vampire caught in our lands, and pumped for information. We shall keep an eye out for this Neclord, and take him out ASAP.
Brian’s notes: It is said the Sierra has since defeated Neclord and reclaimed this rune.

Location: This rune has been in the possession of one Sierra, the Coven mistress and original vampire for hundreds of years. A brief stint it was stolen by Neclord, but it has returned to Sierra. Attempts to take the rune from her have failed, and her power continues to elude us.

3. Circle Rune: My own rune, it bears dominance over Law. With forces of Order and Stagnation.  With its powers I created Harmonia, a country built on the order of this rune.  Civilization flourished under its power, a new order brought to bear, but now the rune betrays me and has entered its stagnation phase. Both my empire and I begin to wither, and I do not know how much time I have left to find a way to stop this descent.

Location: I, Hikusaak, found this rune over 200 years ((GM’s edit: in our time this would be closer to 400 years, making this passage over 200 years old)) in a dying forest near the Mystic Woods. It was ruining the trees in its stagnation phase. I tried to tame the rune, and in doing so was able to take its powers unto myself.

4. Dragon Rune: One of the three original ‘existence runes’ ((Note: see the entry of the Humanity rune for more on the three existence runes) this rune gives power to the race of Dragons. While all dragons can live in the land of wing and scales, the dragon home world, this rune was given to the humans known as Dragon Knights so that Dragons could continue to exist in this world. It is known that if the bearer of this rune is killed, all dragons in our human world would die as well.
For this reason, the forces of this rune seem to be pride and guilt. Pride, for the humans who take care of the dragons have great pride in their power. Guilt, for they know their dependency on their dragons keeps their companions in this foreign world to them, and that all of the dragons lives depend on humans. It is a delicate balance, but a balance nonetheless.
We have tried to take this rune in the past, but we cannot use force. If the bearer were killed, this runes greatest power would be ruined. We sent spies to steal it via our secret technique to remove runes, but the dragon knights put up too much resistance. Once we have regained more of our strength, we shall try again.

Location: This rune is always in the hands of the Dragon knight’s captain, currently Milia of the Dragon’s Den.

5. Eightfold Rune – This rune is said to enlighten its user to the true path to end suffering and enlightenment. It governs the forces of Tranquility and Agitation. It seems abnormal, for this rune has been in the possession of a man named Yuber for centuries, who embodies nothing of this rune’s supposed desires.  I have crossed blades with him several times, and his powers are vast. While mere speculation my part, I believe him to be inhuman, a creature from the world of nothingness. His powers, such as demon summoning and teleportation, are his own, amplified by the power of the true rune. As for the rune itself, it is our theory that Yuber, and thus the rune, believe the fastest way to end suffering is to end life itself. It is the only explanation that we have that fits. Until we can defeat him and find out more, that is what we shall assume.
Location: This rune has been held by Yuber for too long. Even my old mentor in Aronia mentioned Yuber in a text once, citing him at a battle over 500 years ago. He is to be considered an extremely dangerous opponent, and to be taken out at once.

6. Gate Rune: The Gate rune is said to govern all travelers. While other runes control life and death, this rune controls the arrival and departure of souls to and from this plane. It connects worlds, allows for teleportation, supposedly even through time. For forces, this rune seems to be Joy and Sadness, such as the Joy of seeing new places or the arrival of friends, and the sadness of departure from said places and friends. It seems to inspire people to travel to find new joy in this world.

We were close to obtaining it in a small village, but some of the villagers got nervous and started to resist our soldiers, resulting in them fighting back. Before it could be stopped, the village was ablaze and many left dead.  It was a tragedy, and those soldiers responsible were punished severely.  Two sisters seem to have escaped the fighting with the rune, teleporting to who knows where.

Brian’s note: It is now known that this rune is split into two, and divided by the two sisters, Windy and Leknaat.

Front Gate Rune:  Last seen held by Windy in Toran. She was rumored to have been killed, but no body was ever found. We believe she teleported away at the last second, but to where is unknown. Current location is still a mystery.

Back Gate Rune:  Location: Leknaat, Magician’s Isle. The sorceress Leknaat makes no secret of her power or location, but with her powers of teleportation, she is nearly impossible to trap.  Her visions of the future don’t help us either. Attempts to claim this rune has resulted in our agents being sent back to us empty-handed by her rune.

7. Night Rune: This quirky rune controls the powers of the night. It governs darkness and shadows, but more importantly, its forces seem to be concealment and revelations, or truth and lies. The Rune itself has a strong personality, splitting itself from the Sun Rune and taking its own form inside a blade known as the Star Dragon Sword.  In this form, the sword seems to conceal that it split from the sun rune out of jealously, and spreads ‘lies’ of its awesome power, wanting to be worshipped as the sun is.
Brian’s note: Some example of this is records of its battle with Neclord. It supposedly ‘killed him’ in Toran while wielded by a man named Viktor. But for all the swords powers, it didn’t recognize that this was only Neclord’s shadow, or that Neclord possessed the Blue Moon Rune.  It took a vampire hunter named Kahn to point this out to the incarnate of a true rune!
This rune also has some connection to the undead, allowing creatures of the night to exist. Our theory goes that the Night Rune helped create the first undead. Seeing as humans and other such races derived life from the sun, the Night rune wanted its own people who would worship him, and helped create the undead, a perversion of the people whose respect he wanted. It didn’t work well, as most undead didn’t even have the brain power to properly even thank the Night Rune for their existence.  Disgusted by the creatures it had created, the sword/rune now claims itself an ‘undead killer.’
Of note, vampires are connected to both the Night Rune and the Blue Moon Rune. Our theory: we believe the Night Rune made the undead first, but the Blue Moon Rune liked the idea so much, it perfected the night rune’s design in the form of vampires, who became a test of the Blue Moon’s compassion and destruction angle. See the entry there for more.
Also of note, this rune is influenced by the Dawn, Dusk, and Star Rune. The right combination can actually improve the Rune’s power or diminish it. Further testing will be required.

Location: Embedded into the Star Dragon Sword. Last carried by a man named Edge, and given to the Priest General Nolan for now.

8. Rune of Change: This rune is said to affect all change in the universe.  It is said to govern the forces of Ambition and Shame, two opposite desires that inspire change in people. Ambition to change things on a grand scale, or shame to change things in one’s self. Either way, the goal is change.
It is said that this rune in unique among others, for it can change hosts on a whim, abandoning its former host at any time if the host isn’t strong enough to tame its powers. For a time, it changed hosts so often it was untraceable. It wasn’t until the leader of the Sindar, a man named Herne, claimed it that it stayed somewhere long enough to be found. Still, it wasn’t easy, for the rune of change cursed the Sindar to continually move, leaving home after home on a seemingly never ending journey. We have only crumbs of their ancient society left over, but what we know is impressive. Their technology and magic skills were far greater than anything we have today. It is a mystery to us where they are now, but old records say that the Sindar finally overcame the curse, and found their ‘eternal city’ where they reside even now. Where this is we do not know. We have searched this continent from end to end, and do not believe it to be here. We know of Sindar ruins on both the western and southern continents, so we will have to search those fully once the empire is restored.

Location: Rumored to be attached to the Sindar Leader Herne, supposedly in their Eternal City

9. Sovereign Rune:  This potent rune governs the forces of Loyalty and Rebellion.  It represents absolute rule, giving its bearer immunity to all other runes. This immunity to other rules makes it highly sought by many, including myself. If it could force the Circle Rune to stay in its Order phase, then the decline of my kingdom could be stopped.  Unfortunately, the first sign of ruin in my empire was the loss of Rupanda (Brian’s note: Later named Gregminster) and the loss of the Sovereign Rune. If only I had been aware of the signs, I could have prevented this… but it is too late. The Rune is beyond our grasp for now. It has been embedded into a sword, the King Dragon Sword, and its powers grant immunity to other runes, but it’s other powers have been sealed by the Rugner family.  Even if we stole the sword, it would not unseal the rune. We will have to have the court wizards look into ways of removing a True Rune from a person or object to see if we can claim this rune later.
Brian’s note: The method to seal or remove a true rune was found, but by that time the Hikusaak was already into his coma. We needed to perfect the homunculi, and create a host for the rune. And by the time that was completed, there was internal turmoil in what was then the Scarlet Moon Empire, which led to the Succession War.  Our spies tried to find the blade, but in all the fighting it was impossible to know which side of the civil war had the blade. Barbarossa won, and carried the blade with him always. Our spies couldn’t get past the formable defenses of the Great Generals, and the fall of the empire was in such a state that we couldn’t declare open war on them.  Then the Scarlet Moon Empire collapsed, and the Sword and Rune went missing. It is to be considered a top priority rune to be found at this time.

Location: King Dragon Sword, Missing in action. Last seen in Gregminster, but it is believed Barbarossa escaped with his court magician Windy, and is in hiding somewhere.

10. Sun Rune: A powerful run, representing the forces of scorching heat and nurturing light. With one action, the rune can destroy entire kingdoms, and in the next beat it will nurture the survivors into a new age. Its power is too intense for most, driving most users insane with power, or perhaps a more severe form of heatstroke, seeing things that aren’t really there. It has long resided in the lands to the south, with the Armes Kingdom and later Falena. It is the ‘twin’ of the Night Rune, for the Night Rune broke away from the Sun Rune, jealous of its power.  This split created Dusk and Dawn runes, two runes that help to contain the power of the Sun rune. These two runes, as well as the Star Rune, are said to be connected to the Night Rune as well.  While powerful, this rune is not of much use to us, not would it be practical for us to fight for it at this time.

Location:  Held by the Falenna Royal Family inside their citadel

11. Soul Eater: One of the most feared runes, this rune represents the powers of Life and Death. It has the power to steal lives and souls from those around its bearer, feeding its incredible power even more with the lives it takes.  The closer the people get to the bearer, the more this rune tries to claim their lives, and grow even stronger. Such a rune is capable of driving most bearers mad, and it had been hidden in a small village within my empire so some time. The village elder there had told me much of the rune, believing me trustworthy for bearing a True Rune myself. I had hoped to one day find a suitable host within my people to bear such a rune, but an attack some 50 years ago left the town torched, and the rune missing.  If it is found, it must be a priority to secure this feared rune.
Brian’s notes: This rune later appeared in the hands of the Toran Liberation Army leader, Tir McDohl. He is believed to be its current bearer still, but he went into hiding after the war, and his current whereabouts are unknown.

Location: Last known to be held by Tir McDohl, in Toran

12. Rune of the beginning:  This rune represents the beginning of the universe, from the days of Sword and Shield. The rune splits into two parts: the Black Sword Rune, and Bright Shield Rune.  The forces of this rune are attuned to each half, for the Black Sword of battle represents Bloodlust (fighting for fighting’s sake) and Justice (Just war to protect one’s people).
On the other hand, Bright Shield represents Courage (courage to defend one’s loved ones) and Torpor (a lack of desire to help others, to only protect oneself as needed).
This rune chooses not one, but two hosts, one for each half, and the two runes then repeat a cycle of battles to see which is strongest, the desire for war or peace. Wherever this rune goes, bloodshed is sure to follow for the two halves continue to wage a never ending war. Considering the state of affairs, it is best we avoid experimenting with this rune for now, until we know more of the nature of true runes and how to seal them. This rune’s powers will only further the battles we face and rapid decline.
Brian’s notes: This rune was last seen in the Dunan Unification war, in the hands of Riou and Jowy of Dunan and Highland, respectively. Both leaders disappeared after the war, leaving this rune’s location a mystery for a while. However, our spies report seeing two young men matching the descriptions of Riou and Jowy, using runes that could have been the Black Sword and Bright Shield. It is unlikely, but it is possible they were able to defeat the curse of this rune, and both live peacefully. Until we know more, we shall assume both leaders have their respective runes.

Bright Shield:  Location: Riou? Last seen traveling towards Camaro

Black Sword:  Location: Jowy? Last seen traveling towards Camaro

13. Rune of Punishment:  A rune that represents atonement and forgiveness, it deals out punishment to both those who wield it and those who oppose its wielder. This rune has frightening combat powers, but the cost comes at the expense of the user’s life energy, draining them to death if they use the rune too much. This rune alone among true runes then chooses a new host immediately by attaching itself to the nearest person, starting its cycle over again. If we are able to perfect the homunculi experiment, this could be a frightening powerful rune in our hands, and could help us to retake those lands lost to us in rebellion. I have heard tale of this rune being in the Island nations to the south of here, doing much harm. Let us leave it there for now, for if it were to come here before we are ready, it might fall into enemy hands and be devastating to our cause.

Brian’s notes: This rune, after wrecking many lives in the south, seems to have entered its forgiveness phase in the hands of one Lazlo En Kuldes, the present King of Orbel and ruler of the Island Nations.  He has ruled now for nearly 200 years thanks to the rune, and is the longest living bearer of this rune.  He is exceptionally skilled in swordplay, tactics, and magic.  If any attempts are made on this rune now, he is to be considered extremely dangerous.

Location:  Lazlo En Kuldes, King of Orbel and leader of the Island Nations.

14. True Earth – One of the five element runes, this one controls the power of Earth. From the rocks on a road to the mountains of the west, even the crops we grow from the ground, all fall under sway of this rune. Its forces focus on this last part, of the live giving plants, for its powers is greatest over such things as Growth and Decay. It is said that once a great famine plagued the Grasslands, nearly exterminating them. But a group of heroes arose, using the powers of the True Water and True Earth runes to bring new life to the plains. Its power is mostly in the defense of life, from rock hard shields to giving life from crops. Still, its attack power is not to be underestimated.

Location:
Brian’s note: We secured this rune long ago, but had trouble finding a host for it. It was not until the Homunculi Sasari was able to tame it that we were able to call upon its powers.

15. True Fire – One of the five element runes, this one controls the power of Fire. Its forces seem to be the fires that inspire True Love and Pure Hate. Both sides have the power to inspire people to great lengths, destroying anything in their path to achieve their goal like a wildfire. Its destructive power is truly inspiring, making this rune one we should acquire as soon as the homunculi project is complete.

Brian’s note: We secured this rune in early stages of the homunculi project, but the rune rejected our chosen host, burning him to a crisp. It has seen escaped our attempts to secure it, resisting us at every turn. It has recently found its way to the grasslands, where it has attached itself to the Karaya clan chief, Hugo. As chief, his guards are many and our scouts have yet to find a weakness in their defenses.

Location: Hugo, Karaya

16. True Lightning – One of the five element runes, this one controls the power of Lightning. Its forces are said to be Awe and Fear, the most common emotions that over take people who see the power of lightning. A powerful attack rune, we encountered it once in a village in the southern parts of the empire. The bearer, Citan, helped me and my troops in a battle near their village, and helped establish our control in the area. He then simply wished to be left alone. With no way to convince him to help us or to take the rune from him, we abided by his wishes, making note of the location for the future.

Brian’s note: With the homunculi project complete, we attempted to acquire this rune some 100 years back. Unfortunately, the rune was smuggled out of the village before we could claim it. It eluded us for some time, but our scouts now indicate it is the hands of a man named Geddoe, in our service in the Southern Frontier Defense Force. We since approached about his rune, and he deflected all of our questions. Like Citan before him, he simply wished to be left alone by us. As long as he works for us, we shall let him keep the rune, for his skill with it seems great. Still, we must keep an eye on him, and make sure he doesn’t escape us this time.

Location: Geddoe, Harmonia

17. True Water - One of the five element runes, this one controls the power of Water. Governing water, it has the power to give life to all things, and to use its power to flood and destroy life. Not surprisingly, its forces seem to be Mercy and Vengeance. By the mercy of this rune we are all sustained on this world, but if the rune is angered, it can rain great destruction as well. This rune has long dwelled in the area known as the grasslands. Once the homunculi project is complete, we should have no trouble securing this rune.

Brian’s note: Sadly, we did have trouble securing this rune. We had a homunculi ready for it, but the last bearer, Wyatt Lightfellow, defeated our scouts and escaped with the rune. It went missing for a long time and only recently showed up again in the hands of Chris Lightfellow, Wyatt’s daughter. As captain of the Zexen knights, she is heavily guarded and our attempts to secure this rune have been thwarted.

Location: Chris, Zexen

18. True Wind – One of the five element runes, this one controls the power of Wind. Its forces are said to be Generosity and Envy. Generosity, for it is by this rune good graces that we have air, that which gives us all life. Envy, for while the wind surrounds us daily, it is never truly a part of our lives, not able to directly influence the world as easily as the other elements can. It is an invisible care giver, once easily prone to jealously. This rune travels a lot, carried as if on a breeze. A potent rune, it should be secured with all the others.
Brian’s note: We secured this rune a few years back, and attached it to a homunculi named Luc. His training was going smoothly, until a break in at the palace had him abducted from underneath our noses. He escaped our notice for years. During this time, we have since learned he worked with Leknaat, and fought in both the Toran Gate Wars, and the Dunan Unification war.
He later came back to Harmonia on his own will, disguising himself with a mask. He demonstrated great powers of sorcery, and made a deal with the order of God; he promised he could attach the Chronos Rune to one of them and unlock its full power, but he needed troops for his own plan. The Order of God agreed, for their time was running out. It was a desperate gamble, and one that backfired: Luc used our troops to instigate a war in the grasslands, with the ultimate goal of destroying his True Win Rune. Some of our remaining forces and those of the grassland combined to stop his plans and kill him. The rune then went off on its own, and is MIA.

It is a rare case where one of our homunculi was turned against us, likely due to his upbringing outside of Crystal Valley. We must be extra careful of this from now on.

Location: Unknown. Last seen with Luc in the grasslands.

19. Unity Rune:  This rune has much potential, for it governs the forces of friendship and betrayal.  This rune’s personality is said to be child like, as it actively seek out friends, but may betray them over minor slights. It is known to pick multiple hosts at once, breaking its powers over several people as it seeks more friends.  It would be tricky to hold onto, but with such a rune, we could easily sway enemy generals to defect to our side, and greatly hurt any who rebel against us. And with its friendship powers, we might be able to create a better world, where people treat each other as trusted friends.  It would be nice to add to our collection if it can be tamed.

Location:   Unknown.
Brian’s Notes:  I can now edit this to say the rune is mostly in the hands of the Union army leaders, divided up into 9 parts:  Harold, Sciath, Sun Crystal, Daisy, Royce, Vasuki, Dr. Kalas, Nathan, and the Camaro Commander Grant

20. Demon Rune: This fearsome rune is one of the original three “Existence runes” ((See the entry of the humanity rune for more on the three existence runes). Meaning, this rune allows for the creation and existence of demons.  I don’t mean general monsters like some wild board or a possessed sword either, but true demons, the kind you read of only in legend and see in nightmares
This rune offers great power, but those who submit to this power become lost to it, becoming demons themselves. It should come as no surprise that this rune’s forces govern Temptation and Temperance. Will the bearer give in to the temptation of power, or resist that cry to hang onto humanity? If we could take it with the homunculi project, this would be another great rune for us to hold onto. Still, it is said to be within the land of wings and scales, and likely out of our reach.

Location:
Brian’s note: After Hikusaak went into his coma, a very unlikely event occurred. A wild dragon was found right here in the Crystal Valley, rampaging through the streets. It is not known where it came from or why it attacked, but our soldiers responded by attacking the beast.  Many were killed, but the beast was badly wounded too. To our surprise, the dragon opened a portal to the land of wings and scales, and fled there. The order of God ordered several soldiers into the rift after it, as well as then Priest General Leichlein, who knew of the True Rune and homunculi project.  The portal closed with them inside, and we thought them lost. Still, three weeks later, a new portal emerged, with Priest General Leichlein riding a dragon, and in possession of the Demon Rune. None of his soldiers survived, and the General refused to go into details of what happened.
Leichlein bore the rune for nearly 100 years in service of Harmonia. But as time progressed, he became more erratic, and less….devoted to the cause. It was found that the general was being tempted to experiment with his rune, and growing mad with its power. With little choice, we had the general set up and assassinated in a remote part of the empire, supposedly fighting bandits. His powers were great, but he was over whelmed by the traps set and numbers against him. With his death, we used our now perfected techniques to steal his rune, and pass it on to a homunculi. Its powers being temptation, we have had to kill five more hosts who have given way to its corruptive powers. It is currently in the possession of the homunculi Zachary.

Location: Given to Priest General Zachary.

21. Humanity Rune:  According to some ancient Sindar texts, this is the rune that helped to give life to all humanity, and allows for our continued existence. From what records we can find, this rune created humans to populate the once barren earth, and gave us the name of humans after it making this the third of the original “existence runes.”
Still, the rune didn’t know how to take care of all of the people’s needs, and called out to the other runes to help it. Several runes came to help, such as Sun Run to give us light, the True Earth Rune to give us crops, and the True Water Rune to give us fresh water.  Other runes grew jealous, and created their own races, such as the dragons of the Dragon Rune, and demons of the Demon Rune. All of the runes would take a side, from the True Wind blessing dragons with flight, to the Chronos Rune making demons ageless.  All of the runes gave the three people a gift, and watched them flourish for centuries. But the balance broke, and the demons began to try and take over. Dragons and Humans fought together, but the demons’ power was too great.  The people were nearly destroyed, and so the three worlds were made: our human world for us, the land of wing and scales for the dragons, and the world of emptiness for the demons. The three worlds are greatly connected, and there is bleed over, such as the dragons of the dragons den that refused to leave their human partners.
Still, to maintain the balance, each of the three ‘existence runes’ (Humanity, Demon, and Dragon) were split into the three realms. Humans were given the Dragon Rune, so they could continue to tame and ride dragons. Demons were given the Humanity rune, for the demons did love to tempt humans into their ways. And finally, Dragons were given the Demon rune, as the dragons protected humans from the demons; if the demons were to ever go too far, the dragons had the power to restore balance.
If this is to be believed, the Humanity Rune should be secured somewhere in the land of emptiness, where demons continue to tempt humanity into evil.  There must be some way to break into this and stop short of dying to reclaim this rune, but the method escapes us at this time.
Last but not least, this rune is said to govern the forces of Hope and Despair, the greatest gifts of Humanity.

Location: Supposedly in the land of emptiness, beyond human reach.

22. Piety Rune:  A terrifyingly powerful rune, it is nicknamed "the Miracle rune" for with this rune, your wishes do come true. It governs the forces of Faith (waiting for your miracle) and Ritual (taking action to achieve ones goals).  As hard as it is to believe, we have uncovered this passage from an old sindar text:
“Long ago, of intelligent species there were only humans, demons, and dragons.  Creatures such as elves, dwarves, wingers, kobolds, mermaids, and so forth simply didn’t exist. Not in the real world, at least. But they lived in stories told around campfires, in books, and in myth.  The change came suddenly and unexpectedly. There was great light that enveloped the world over, and the world shifted in an instant. Suddenly, cities of elves flourished in forests, dwarves inhabited the mountains, and so on. Humans didn’t seem to notice; it was as if they believed those races had always existed. Indeed, even the new races believed this, for even though they hadn’t existed a year ago, they had historical records going back centuries.  The dragons didn’t suspect either.  Only the demons and we Sindar were immune to the light that changed the world, protected by the powers of our blood. We knew, but no one believed us. Eventually, we stopped trying to convince people, and accepted this change. We investigated it in private, trying to find what could have caused such a dramatic change in the world.
Our conclusion is this: the Piety Rune granted a wish. Likely, it was a child’s wish, so pure and innocent that it could not be stopped. This child, whom we call ‘Mary’ wished so hard for the creatures of her dreams to exist, to be real. She wished so hard that the Piety Rune made her wish come true. It remade this world in a flash, making the impossible possible. No sign of the child was ever found, but this is our belief. If true, that would make this rune the ‘existence’ rune for such creatures as elves, dwarves, kobolds, etc. If the bearer of this rune were to be killed, it is unknown if these races would cease to be, as if with the other ‘existence’ runes of humanity, demon, and dragon.”

Our studies can neither confirm nor deny this theory, but it fits with what we know: that only three existence runes are known: the Humanity, Dragon, and Demon Runes.  There is no “Elf Rune” for example. If this rune has such power to remake the world, then it must be found immediately to be put to use to save this world from itself.  However, our spies have had no luck finding it.

Brian’s note: It is now known to be in the hands of the Camaro Royal Family, sealed away in their palace. It sits there, inactive, waiting for someone to claim. Our own spies have tried to take it, but with no luck.
It is only recently that is has chosen a new Host in the form of Queen Dianna of Camaro.

Location: Queen Dianna of Camaro has this rune. She is to be considered extremely dangerous.

23. Chronos Rune: This rune is another rune of frightening power.  It has the role of controlling nothing less than time itself.  For forces, we believe it to govern Impulse and Patience.  It is a rune we have acquired already, found in a Sindar Ruin southeast of the Great Forest in what was once my empire. We built the fortress of Pannu Yakata around the ruins to secure the rune until we can perfect the transportation and acquisition of such powerful runes. Hopefully the secret chamber where the rune is stored will remain secret until that time, or we could be in grave danger.
Brain’s notes: The rune did stay secret until we could claim it, thankfully. Since coming into our possession attempts to graft it onto a suitable host have failed. From what we have seen, it can stop time, immobilizing people as statues, or age them to death in seconds.  We are able to draw out some of its power little by little, able to slow the aging for the Order of God, for example, but we have yet to find a host to bear this rune.

Location: Recently grafted onto a sword wielded by Daisy Saint-Anicet.

24. Mind Rune:  This rune helps to govern much of the mind, of all sentient creatures. It is often found in two parts, split like the Rune of the Beginning. The two halves are the Logic Rune, which governs such things as education, learning, science, alchemy, strategy, inventions on side, and ignorance on the other. The other half is the Imagination Rune, which governs creativity, dreams, music, and art on one side of the spectrum, and madness on the other. This rune, depending on whether it is whole or not, or the mood it is in, is known to play tricks on people’s mind, creating illusions to drive people mad. It also challenges people to riddles, and those who impress the rune may acquire its power.  The two sides of this rune are at constant odds, trying to see which can make better use of the mind of people.  Where these runes go, history follows. It is known that Logic rune once held great sway in places such as the Crystal Valley and Greenhill, both major centers of learning to this day.  On the other hand, cities such as Rupanda (note: later renamed Gregminster) and Witchport have long been centers of art; both owe a portion of this to the Imagination Rune.  If we could tame these runes, we could advance society to who knows what levels? Once the homunculi project is finished and the empire retaken, these runes should be made a priority to find.

Logic Rune:
Location: Last scene in Falena, worn by the Judge Tremont Graceling.

Imagination Rune:
Location:  Last seen in Zelant Knigdom, worn by the artist Elly Rupunzel.

25. Rune of the End: This rune represents the end of all things, even the world. Its forces represent Satisfaction and Regret, those lingering feelings that people have at the end of their lives. It has incredible destructive power, able to destroy anyone or anything with its might. There is rumored to have been an entire island kingdom in the southwest that was destroyed by this rune. It is to be considered extremely dangerous, and handled with care.

Location: Secured by Harmonia, found attached to a turtle in the southern seas. It is currently attached to the Priest General Nolan, our oldest homunculi.

26. Ninefold Rune – This rune is said to represent Path of Chaos, and the powers of luck or chance in the universe. The one bears this rune might always be at the right place at the right time, or always be a day late or a dollar short. Its powers are said to be incredibly hard to control, for it favors uncertainty. It has sway over the force of curiosity and repetition; the desires that fuel chaos. One passage is said that “curiosity inspires people to do things they would never do normally, sparking chaos. And doing the same thing over and over again, hoping for a different result… this too results in chaos.”
This rune is said to be in the hands of the Black Knight Pesmerga. His wanderings are chaotic by the influence of this rune, but his goal is to stop the being known as Yuber. His reasons are unknown, so he is to be considered dangerous until we know more. Still, I have met the man(?) and believe him to be an honorable sort.

Location: Likely still attached to the Black Knight Pesmerga.

27. Domination Rune: This rune is said to control the forces of control and freedom. It inspires men to wish to control the lands of others, and those who are conquered to rise up for freedom. It also has sway over those who wish to control small things, from money to relationships, and those who simply wish to be free of such trappings. A simple rune in theory, its true powers are devastating. For with this rune, it is said one can take away the free will of those around the bearer, making them as puppets on a string. I have seen this rune in action, and few runes scare me like this one does. Once the homunculi project is complete, this rune must be secured as soon as possible.

Location:
Brian’s notes: As Hikusaak wanted, this rune was secured once the homunculi project was finished. It is now on the hands of Hikusaak’s most loyal defender, Priest General and homunculi Bryce.

Old Book Vol. 3         History of Harmonia

Harmonia was officially founded in the Solis Year -2, when Head Bishop Hikusaak defeated the Aronian Emperor Mortimer and his forces at the Aronian capitol of Crystal Valley.  The Emperor unconditionally surrendered, signifying the end of Aronia.
Unofficially, Harmonia began 30 years before this, when Hikusaak became mayor of a small village formerly known as Wipa, which he would later rename Delon. Using the influence of the Circle Rune, Hikusaak brought a new order to the village, establishing new laws, trade routes, and changing a town militia into a full scale army. What would become the Harmonia Empire began simply, growing in size from a tiny village to what would become one of the largest cities in the empire. The revolution began small, right outside the Aronian capitol. Hikusaak began small raids, earning the favor of small villagers and townsfolk and of course, their respective town militias.
The first major skirmish was outside Lindenmill, when lumberjacks began protesting over their treatment in the Aronia society. The Aronia soldiers ripped into the protesters, killing many and imprisoning many more. The people called out for aid, having heard of the “One Hero” Hikusaak who helped the poor. Hikusaak saw his chance, and launched a major offensive on Lindenmill.
On the advice of his strategist, Edmund Silverburg, Hikusaak gathered his men outside the city in the nearby Mystic Woods. Hikusaak and a few of his men snuck into the city disguised as merchants, and began lighting fires in the enemy barracks and store houses. During the confusion, Hikusaak’s general Crenshaw Blight stormed the city gate from the front, while his general Sebastian Rugner marched on the rear. Hikusaak fought his way to the back gate, and opened the gates there. With the city breached, the front gate was abandoned and they retreated to their fortress, as Edmund predicted; Edmund had already bribed his way inside the gate, and released the men taken prisoner. The retreating Aronian soldiers tried to enter their fortress, only to find it in enemy hands. Surrounded on all sides, they surrendered.
With this major win, the battles began in earnest. Hikusaak declared an official revolution, and the townspeople Hikusaak had spent years winning over flocked to his cause. With the townspeople on his side and Hikusaak promising reforms, many soldiers quickly defected for a better future and to defend their families over the corrupt government.  Once the official war began, it took less than a year for Hikusaak and his men to take over the entire country side around Crystal Valley and lay siege to the capitol. The government called for reinforcements from the outer regions, and more than 75% of the Aronian reinforcements defected to Hikusaak, and those who didn’t join him couldn’t break the siege. The battle of the capitol lasted three weeks, with more Aronians defecting by the day.  The death blow came when a group of defectors burned down the Crystal Valley main store house before fleeing the city, and the government couldn’t hold out any longer. They made one last desperate attack, but Hikusaak’s forces prevailed, and pressed on into the city. They took the palace and captured the emperor.
With Mortimor’s surrender, Hikusaak founded the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia, a country based on faith and harmony instead of noble bloodlines.  Hikusaak became High Bishop. Edmund Silverburg, Crenshaw Blight, and Sebastian Rugner became the first Priest Generals.  These four men set the foundations of Harmonia, and the Theocracy began.

Old Book Vol. 4         Legends of the Sindar

This here volume details the history of the Sindar.
In times long past, there were only three races: Humans, Dragons, and Demons. In the beginning, these races coexisted peacefully, living together. Humans tended to the care of the dragons, and the dragons did the heavy work for the humans. The demons were planners and thinkers, and taught humans much of the world beyond their reach, and in return the humans showed them expressions of the soul, from art to music.
These relationships lasted for centuries, with technology and civilization flourishing. Then came the coming of the Sindar, the mixed race. Demons and humans began to comingle, creating a new hybrid race known as the Sindar. They had souls of the humans, but the strength and wings of demons. Thus arose the question: which of the three creation runes – Humanity, Demon, or Dragon – did the Sindar fall under? Centuries passed without answer, but then an answer came from the Mind Rune. Since they were none of the three races, the sindar were made immune to the ‘trinity of existence.’ This meant that if the Humanity Rune was killed, humans would die, but not the sindar. If the Demon Rune host was killed, demons would die, but not the sindar. This made the races jealous, but none more than the demons. They desired this immunity more and more.
The beginning of the end came when one of the demons began experiments on humans and Sindar. The demons discovered that if they devoured humans souls, they could artificially transform themselves into Sindar, making them immune to the death threat of the ‘trinity of existence.’ Demons began the first war to devour human souls and become Sindar. The humans and their dragon allies fought back. The fighting was terrible, and last centuries. We Sindar were blamed for the fighting, and were cast out as exiles by all sides. Hated for our existence, we went into hiding underground, building deep underground cities where we could be protected.
Meanwhile, the wars continued above. The civilization the combined races had forged was destroyed in fighting. Art and culture was lost for tribes focused solely on fighting.  The three races were nearly brought to extinction, but before it could happen the True Runes stepped in. They realized this could not go on, and made up the three realms: the Land of souls for the humans, the land of wings and scales for the dragons, and the land of emptiness for the demons. The races were separated, with few exceptions; some dragons were too attached to their humans, and refused to leave, choosing to die instead. The runes took pity, and made it so dragons could exist in the human world via the power of the Dragon Rune.
While this happened, we Sindar were forgotten. Having avoided the fighting, our people had flourished in our underground cities, keeping much of the ancient ways preserved. Once the fighting was over, we came out of hiding to try to help humanity to reform society. Our leader, Herne, wanted to initiate a great change in society, where our people would not be hunted. To do this, he took possession of the Rune of Change. The rune, however, chose not help the Sindar save humanity; its decision was that humans had to fend for themselves.  Thus decided, the rune of Change used its powers to force us to continually change our homes, forcing us into a perpetual exile, roaming from place to place.
It is said that when human society evolves to the point of forming civilization again, that our centuries of wandering will end. Until then, we wait…

Old Book Vol. 6         Guide to Warfare

To master the art of war, one must first understand the basics.  The number of units your army has is based on the formula: the number of story REQUIRED stars divided by four.  ((Read: This number doesn’t include optional stars).  All units have two strikes, unless modified by a special ability. Each side takes a turn moving all of its units. Units can move, attack when in range, or use a special ability.
When an attack is declared, you roll a face off, to determine who attacks who. All because you ordered the attack does not guarantee you will be on the offensive; a skilled general can turn the tide of battle with a special ability or superior handling of troops. A face off is determined as so:
Each side rolls 1d12 + the FACE value of a unit. The highest number gets to attack. A one is a critical mistake; the roller is automatically on the defense, and if unit takes damage, the damage is doubled. A12 is a critical success; the roller is automatically on the offensive, and the other unit takes 1 strike right away. If a unit is defeated (takes all of its remaining hits) it retreats, and is removed from the battle. If a unit takes its last hit from a critical mistake or a critical success, there is a small chance a commander will be killed in battle, resulting in the PERMANENT death of a star of destiny. Avoid this at all costs with skills like bodyguard!
Once the attacking side has been determined, battle is commenced. The player’s army rolls 5d8, with each of the PC’s rolling one 1d8. The GM rolls 2d20. The two sides then add their respective WAR abilities. The highest roll wins the battle. If the highest roll was ATTACKING, the loser takes 1 strike (or more if bonus or failure applies). If the highest roll was DEFENDING, nothing happens.
The best way to avoid taking damage in combat is through the use of skills. Use skills like charge! To always be on the offense, or Evade to avoid taking damage in a tough fight. If you do take damage, use skills like Heal to heal injured comrades! There are plenty of skills out there, so make sure to recruit as many allies as possible and find those rare skills!
Of course, your skills are useless if you can’t use them. The number of ploys you can use is based on the strategic value of unit (or in other words, the combined war strategy talent).  Putting in lots of skills without a strategist to utilize them means the unit doesn’t know how to properly use its own talents. A good unit should have one of two commanders with a high war strategy talent to make use of the unit’s ploys.
Lastly, keep in mind the five types of units: Infantry, Cavalry, Archers, Mages, and Flyers. All units default as infantry. You need two commanders with a different unit type to be able to use that type of unit. Each unit has a type advantage and weakness. The chart is as follows:
Infantry > Archers/Mages
Archers/Mages > Flyers
Flyers > Cavalry
Cavalry > Infantry
In other words, Infantry units have an advantage over archers and mages, archers have an advantage over flyers, and so on. If you have a troop type advantage, you get a +5 to your FACE and WAR. Be sure to make use of this!
If you remember these basics, you are sure to win!

Old Book Vol. 7         Intro to Trading

Every good trader gathers information. At every place you visit, check the prices of goods. When you notice price differences, buy where an item is cheap and sell where it is expensive. This is the principle of trading!
If you truly wish to make a killing at trading, you need to establish trade routes. Make loops of places to buy and sell, so you make a complete loop and make a lot of potch.

Sometimes, shops need time to replenish supplies you've bought. Use that time to visit other trade shops. Sell what you have, then buy goods said to be desired elsewhere.

Sometimes, you may find rare items like Gold bars from enemy drops. Selling these items is pure profit, so make the best of them!

Your ability to carry items is limited. Store your purchases at the warehouse if you can't sell them right away.

Keep your ear to the wall, and the wind! You never know when a story you hear will point the way to a hefty profit.
I’ll give you this tip: Ancient texts are one of the best profit items a trader can carry. These items can be found by adventurers in ruins, and found cheap at places that can’t decipher them, as well as places of learning that have too many, like Witchport. Selling them at major libraries like in Crystal Valley can be a huge profit!
Be brave, be bold, and be profitable!

Old Book Vol. 10       History of the Homunculi

The homunculi project began officially in Solis Year 32, when the adventurer Quincy Wisemail made a remarkable discovery of a nearly intact Sindar ruin. An unprecedented amount of art, books, and treasure was found. Quincy kept most of the treasure, but donated much of the art and books to the great libraries for research; an act which earned him a title and a grant of land from the church.
From these research materials, we discovered much of the ancient Sindar from their history to their impressive knowledge of magic. We learned the art of sealing True Runes, the art of forcing True Runes from hosts and objects, and the knowledge of Homunculi, manmade beings that resembled humans in every way. Hikusaak’s dream of securing the 27 True Runes suddenly became a reality. We began trying to replicate the experiments of the Sindar. The homunculi looked human, breathed, had a heartbeat… but couldn’t move on their own. We began seeking True Runes, hoping that there power would be enough to wake them from their slumber.
The first rune besides Hikusaak’s Circle Rune we found was the True Fire Rune. We attached it to a homunculi host, which immediately burst into flames, and reduced to ash. The Rune blasted out of our research lab immediately, leaving us with nothing. We continued to look for Runes, while trying to perfect the homunculi.
Without the power of the True Runes, we tried to power the homunculi with multiple runes. We found a rare Union Rune, and used it to fuse dozens of runes into one being, giving it the power to move. It worked to a limited extent, but the homunculus was short lived, living less than a year before it burned out.
To counter this, we began to ‘feed’ the homunculi rune energy, giving them Draining Runes to absorb life from prisoners. It worked to an extent, but the required energy to keep the homunculi alive was too high, killing humans far too quickly.
The needed break didn’t come until the year 358, with a homunculus named Nolan. Nolan was powered by nearly 100 runes, but was nearing the end of his life. Then our troops secured the Rune of the End. Nolan was selected to try and bear it, and to our joy, he was able to bear this rune successfully. With this rune, his power improved tenfold. His mind was sharpened, and the mastery over his runes improved drastically.
Nolan’s training with his rune began, and he passed all of our tests with flying colors. Nolan, who had been so obsessed with his end, his death, had a strong affinity for the Rune of the End. With his affinity for the rune so strong, we realized that this was the key to making the homunculi truly work.
As we secured more True Runes, we made more homunculi. Knowing we needed a true rune to truly make them work, we made the homunculi young, with children runes of the true runes we wished for them to take on. We didn’t let them wake until we had a true rune for them to take on. As time went on, we secured several True Runes; Chronos, True Earth, True Wind, Demon, and more. Our new homunculi were raised with their runes from their moment they awoke, and their affinity for their runes was strong. The project was not completed in Hilusaak’s time, but at last it was working.
Next we began to try to build a homunculus to bear the Circle Rune, taking it from Hikusaak. But even with our knowledge of transferring True Runes, nothing worked on removing the rune from Hikusaak. We had succeeded in one aspect of the homunculi, but our efforts to break Hikusaak’s curse was futile. We needed to perfect our spells to remove a true rune, but none of our magicians could perform the rite. We trained our homunculi to tap into the magical powers of their runes, but even then our efforts were not enough. Their runes improved their magical skills, but they were not true magicians. We continue to improve the process, and hope one of our homunculi can one day perfect the rituals needed, before it is too late.

Bath Scripts

Reynaldo and Amelia
Reynaldo: Ah, this has to be the finest bath house you’ve ever made, Amelia.
Amelia:  Thanks. That means a lot coming from you, Reynaldo.  I mean…
Reynaldo: Yes?
Amelia: I-it’s nothing.
Reynaldo: ….
Amelia: ….
Reynaldo: Yes, this is truly a magnificent bath house.  Its beauty is only surpassed by the one who built it.
Amelia:  C-cut it out, Reynaldo! You’re always such things. I’m not beautiful.  I’m just an old fool…
Reynaldo: Ha ha ha!
Amelia: What’s so funny?!
Reynaldo: You, old? Hardly! I don’t care what anyone else says, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
Amelia: … Reynaldo… do…. Do you still love me?
Reynaldo: …. Yea, I do. I’ve never stopped, Amelia.
Amelia: …
Reynaldo: Amelia?
Amelia:  I…I don’t know what to say. I… um….that is….….gaw, why is this so hard? What I’m trying to say is….is….after this, do you…?
Reynaldo: Yea. I’d like nothing more, Amelia.
Amelia: G-good. Then it’s a….a….
Reynaldo: A date?
Amelia: Yea. That.

Scene with PCs in bath; placed Large Vase in room

June and Nathan
June: Ah, this feels so good. After dealing all day with sweaty guys there is nothing better than a relaxing bath…
Nathan: … um…
June: Huh? Who’s there?
Nathan: It’s….Nathan, June. Do….do you deal with sweaty men often?
June: Huh? Yea, I guess. I don’t think some of the guys at the gambling hall have ever bathed…
Nathan: Ah, you mean at the gambling hall….ok then.
June: Well, yea. Hey wait, what did you think I meant?!?
Nathan: Nothing! Nothing!
June: You jerk! You think I’m sleeping around or something!? I’m not some kind of slut!
Nathan: I know! I’m sorry, just the way you said it made me think…
June: Whatever! It’s none of your business who I sleep with anyway! Creep! I’m getting out!
Nathan: J-June, wait! I’m sorry! Crud, what have I done this time?

Investigation Duo: Xander and Lynn
Lynn: Ah…. Time to sit back and relax…
Xander:  You said it.
Lynn: Huh? Xander, is that you?
Xander: It is, Lynn. You ok?
Lynn:  But….how? I just passed you in the hallway going the other way!
Xander: Oh, sorry. I do that sometimes.
Lynn: What’s that supposed to mean? You can’t be in two places at once!
Xander: Actually, I can. I’ll tell you a secret, from one snoop to another. My eight form rune allows me to be in eight places at once.
Lynn: E-eight?!
Xander: Yup. While I’m here, I’m also doing paperwork in my office, as well as doing investigative work in six other locations.
Lynn:  That’s amazing! Where did you ever find such a rune?!
Xander: I got it from my mentor.  He gave it to me when he retired. No idea where he found it though.
Lynn: Hm, well….we should investigate it! Together!
Xander: An investigation, huh? Hm. Could be interesting I suppose, especially with a pretty thing who’s not afraid to get her hands dirty.
Lynn: Huh? What’s that supposed to mean?
Xander: I’m a detective, remember? I know about the Baron.
Lynn: …. I don’t know what you’re talking about….
Xander: Really? Let’s see if I can refresh your memory. Baron Silifick was a political prisoner in Sorrowyn Prison. When our army liberated it from Harmonia, we were able to rescue nearly everyone without incident. The baron was among those. But as we made our retreat with the prisoners, the baron simply disappeared in the confusion of the battle. His body turned up after the battle, burned to a charred skeleton and only identified by the signet ring he always wore.  This is odd to say the least, since he was so far away from the fighting being a civilian and all. Foul play was suspected, so I was hired to look into it. Witnesses saw him sneak off, some say with a woman that matched your description. But hey, that’s coincidence right? Just like it was coincidence he died by fire? I mean, he was only in prison for arson and burning a family to death. The last surviving daughter of that family would have no reason to want him dead. Isn’t that right, Lynn?
Lynn: … You seem to have made up your mind already, so anything I saw is pointless.
Xander: Look, I’m not judging you. He had it coming in my opinion. Harmonian would have executed him themselves if he hadn’t had money to bribe the courts. Anyway, don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone what you did.
Lynn: … Thank you.
Xander: Don’t mention. Seriously, don’t. Buy me a drink while we’re on the case, and we’ll call it even.
Lynn: You still want to work with me?
Xander: Of course. Unless you’re backing out?
Lynn: … Not a chance. This might be more fun than I thought…

Bandits in Love: Byron and Gloria
Byron: (Ok Byron, she’s in there all alone….now is the time to find out if you’re a man or a mouse!)
Gloria: Hm? Is someone out there?
Byron: Oh, um, it’s just me, my lady!
Gloria: Ah, Byron. What are you waiting for? You have to try this bath!
Byron: O-of course, my lady.
Gloria: … …. ….?! Byron! What are you doing!? This is the women’s side!
Byron:  Huh? But you said I had to try THIS bath…
Gloria: yea, on your side, Byron! Geez!
Byron: Oh! My apologies, my lady.
Gloria: ….that’s better. So why are you still going on about this ‘my lady’ crap? How many times do I have to tell you I’m just a lowly bandit now?
Byron:  (Gulp, here goes…) W-well, it’s not a matter of lineage or a fancy title, my la—Gloria.
Gloria: Then what? Because I’m your boss?
Byron: No, that’s not it either…
Gloria: Hm? Then because I saved your life?
Byron: No…it’s because… because…
Gloria:  Because…?
Byron:  It’s because I love you, Gloria!
Gloria: …
Byron: My lady?
Gloria: Heh. I didn’t think you’d ever spit it out, Byron.
Byron: Huh?
Gloria: I’ve been waiting for you to grow a spine. I can’t be seen dating a coward now, can I?
Byron: What?! Does….does that mean…
Gloria: …
Byron: … … Gloria!?! This is the MEN’S side of the bath.
Gloria: I know.
Byron: But…. but…
Gloria: You’re adorable when you’re flustered, Byron.
Byron: Gloria…

Women of Mystery: Viki and Jeane
Jeane: Ho ho ho… so, we met again.
Viki: Huh? Oh, I guess so.
Jeane: So, I hear you teleported here again. Where were you before this?
Viki: Huh? Don’t you remember? We were just having a picnic lunch in…um…
Jeane: A picnic? You don’t mean the one back in Falena?
Viki:  Oh yes, that was the name!
Jeane:  He he he… you’re adorable, Viki. That was years ago.
Viki:  Huh? Oh no, I did it again?
Jeane: Yea, but don’t worry. Like I said before, you just stick by me, and I’ll help you out.
Viki: Oh, thank you Jeane. You’re like the best friend ever!
Jeane: Ho ho ho…
Viki: So if it’s been years, did you find it yet?
Jeane: … no…
Viki: Awwwww. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll find it eventually.  If you need help, I can teleport you anywhere you need to go!
Jeane: I know…I’m counting on that…
Viki: Huh?
Jeane: No worries. We should get out of the bath though. Don’t want to get wrinkles.
Viki: W-wrinkles?!

Flights of fancy: May and Adaline

May: Man, I love this place….
Adaline: Hm? I don’t recognize you as one of my wingers… you’re not from Wreckmar, are you?
May: Huh? Oh, no. I’m a winger from Two River, in Dunan.
Adaline: Ah, I know of that place. It’s where the humans, kobolds, and wingers live together, is it not?
May: It is. In all my travel, it’s still one of the most diverse places I’ve seen. I love places like there and this castle, where so many types of people live together.
Adaline: Harmonia must be quite a shock for you then.  We’re not only segregated by race, but also by class.  It’s madness.
May: Yea, I hear you. I was so surprised when I first came here, and so many humans wouldn’t even acknowledge I existed because of my wings.
Adaline: I think they’re just jealous, myself.
May: You think so?
Adaline: Oh yes. Can you imagine going through life without being able to fly?
May: Oh no. I’d miss the sky too much. You know, you might be onto something here.
Adaline: Of course.
May: I wonder... if humans want to fly so much, maybe we could offer flying tours of some kind?
Adaline: Flying tours?
May: Yea! Like, have two wingers carrying a human through the sky so they can see what flying feels like!
Adaline: Interesting…. You really think people would pay for that?
May: Yea, we can totally make this work! I’ll go get things ready! This way, I’ll surpass my brother yet!
Adaline:  …. Did she say, ‘we’ can make this work? Oh dear…

Vampire love: Sierra and Nash
Nash:  It feels good to rest these old bones.
Sierra: Old, eh? And if you’re old, what does that make me?
Nash:  Don’t give me that. You know you haven’t aged a day since you got that rune.
Sierra: I may not age, but that doesn’t make me feel any less old, you know.
Nash: I suppose not.  But I’m sure you don’t feel old because of aches in your bones. I’m getting too old to play the hero anymore.
Sierra: … I suppose you are…
Nash: Huh? I never thought you’d agree with me. Guess you must be getting ready to trade me in for a younger model, eh?
Sierra: What?! Is that you think?!
Nash: … no, I don’t. I‘m sorry. Guess I’m more sensitive about my age than I thought.
Sierra:  Nash…
Nash: Still… you….you should be prepared for that. I won’t be around forever, Sierra.  We both know that.
Sierra: … Nash… I don’t want to talk about such things. I don’t want to think of losing you. It hurts too much.
Nash: Yea… I know what you mean. I know you’ve probably had dozens of lovers, but it hurts to think of you getting over me one day…
Sierra: … one.
Nash: Hm?
Sierra: I’ve only had one other lover, Nash.
Nash: Huh. I…didn’t expect that.
Sierra: I know. I play the flirt, but…
Nash: It’s ok. You don’t need to say anymore.
Sierra: … Yes, I do. You know as well as I do you don’t need to age anymore, Nash.
Nash:   … Is that right? Never thought I’d hear you utter those words, Sierra.
Sierra: It’s…not something easy for me to consider, but… but I don’t want to lose you either.
Nash:  I’ve wondered if you would ask me one day, and for all the times I’ve thought of it, I still don’t know what to say.
Sierra: You don’t need to decide this second. Why don’t we think on it, ok?
Nash: … Ok. And Sierra….thank you. You know I love you, no matter what happens.
Sierra: And I love you, my husband. No matter what.

Strategist Envy: Caesar, Albert and Dexter

Dexter: Wow, I can’t believe I’m actually here with two of the most brilliant minds of or age! I’m so honored to be here with you both!
Albert: Yes yes, we’re famous. Could you keep your fan boyism down? I’m trying to relax here.
Dexter: Oh! Sorry sir!
Caesar: Oh, lighten up Albert. You of all people should be happy to have a fan as knowledgeable as Dexter.  He probably knows your battle history as well as you do.
Dexter: Oh yes!  I was quite impressed by your battles on the western continent! Taking advantage of terrain you had never seen at the battle of Fazezeron was amazing!
Albert: Hm. You liked that, did you? I suppose it was a stroke of genius on my part…
Dexter: Yes, of course! But um if I may…?
Albert: Yes?
Dexter: How did you hold Aeltion Castle against the demons? No has been willing to tell me anything!
Caesar: Yes, how did you do that, Albert?
Albert: Well, if you must know, I used some old magic to give life to some…unique monsters.
Caesar: Ah yes. Your um, peep patrols and such?
Albert: Precisely. The enemy literally didn’t know what hit them. With the monsters guarding the castle, we simple locked the gates and waited it out.
Dexter: But what did you do for food?
Albert: I had an army of edible gummy bears at my disposal. What do you think we did for food?
Caesar: You…ate gummy bears?
Albert: … and peeps, yes.
Caesar: Ha ha! Man, I wish I could have seen that!
Dexter: Truly, that is ingenius!
Albert: Well, it wasn’t exactly our finest hour, but something had to be done. Do keep it quiet though, won’t you?
Dexter: Of course sir!
Caesar: Oh, I don’t know about that… this is too good to be keep quiet…
Albert: So help me Caesar, if you breathe a word of this to anyone, I will tell everyone about THAT…
Caesar: …! Not….that…!
Albert: That.
Caesar: Ok, fine. I won’t tell anyone. Ok? I’m getting out now.
Albert: I think I will too.
Dexter: Huh. I wonder what “that” is?

Fancy Pants: Anna, Bernadette
Bernadette: Ah, now THIS is how the truly noble were meant to bathe!
Anna: Too true, my dear! Regular baths just don’t compare to such a hot springs!
Bernadette: It’s truly magnificent. And it’s so good for your skin, too!
Anna: So true! And after adventuring with Harold and his friends, I could use such treatments.
Bernadette: I don’t know how you deal going on such adventures. It is true you had to go through a…a…sewer?
Anna: Oh, it’s true! Luckily Harold and I rode Vasuki, and kept ourselves out of the muck. Women like Gloria and Daisy just…walked THROUGH it…
Bernadette: Oh, how barbaric! Speaking of Gloria, I hear she used to be a first class citizen…
Anna: No! her?!
Bernadette: Yes! Then she squabbled away her money, and now lives as a bandit!
Anna: How frightening!
Bernadette: Isn’t it though?  I would sooner die that live like that!
Anna: Is that right? From what I hear, you were almost a pirate yourself…
Bernadette: Wha…what?! Who told you that…that lie!
Anna: Oh, I heard it from Xander, of course…all’s fair in love and war, is it not?
Bernadette: Don’t you dare speak to me of love! What do you know of it!
Anna: I know what it’s like to live without it, my dear, and how I’d do anything to find it for myself. You’re lucky to have known that kind of love.
Bernadette: Lucky!? Lucky! To know love, and to have it taken away from me! To watch my dear William die in front of my eyes!? You call that Lucky!?
Anna: Yes, I suppose I do. For as terrible as it was my good friend, you know someone loved you, was willing to die for you. I have never known anyone like that, and long for it more than anything.
Bernadette: You are a fool then. Love is a disease we are better off without.
Anna: You don’t truly believe that, my friend. It would dishonor the love you and William had to mean such a thing.
Bernadette: I don’t care! I’ll do anything to make this hurt stop!
Anna: Oh, Bernadette…
Bernadette: (Sniff) A-anna, why? Why did he have to die? Why?
Anna: It’s ok, Bernadette…it will be ok….you’ll see….

Change me!: Sierra and Natasha
Natasha: Oh my goodness!
Sierra: Hm?
Natasha: You’re…you’re Sierra, the original coven mistress of vampires!
Sierra: Oh, I see you’ve heard of me?
Natasha: Yes! I’ve dreamed of being a vampire since I was child! Please mistress, please change me into one of your kind!
Sierra: Oh ho ho… tell me that, child, why should I change you?
Natasha: I’ll do anything you, mistress! I swear I’ll be your servant, your slave, anything! I’ll do anything for a chance to be a vampire!
Sierra: Oh, interesting. And tell me, once you are a vampire, what is it that you wish to do?
Natasha: Huh? What do you mean?
Sierra: If you become a vampire ,you will live for a long, long time. It is not something once should do lightly. If you were to have all eternity spread out before you, what would you do with that time?
Natasha: I …I don’t know…I just want…
Sierra: to be a vampire, yes, you said that. But you need more than a desire to become undead. Think about your goals, my dear. Your dreams, your ambitions. Come back to me when you know what you want to do, and I will consider making you a vampire.
Natasha: Oh! Thank you, mistress! I’ll work on that right away!
Sierra: Hm… what did she say her name was again? Oh well.

Lovers reunited: Patricia/Pilika and Maximus

Maximus: Ah, now this is the life! Don’t you agree, love?
Patricia: Yea… it’s so good to be with you again, Max.
Maximus: You said it. I hated to send you away, but I didn’t want to risk you on the front lines. Who would have ever thought Harmonia of all places would collapse?
Patricia: It is a bit unreal, isn’t it? I’ve lived here most of my life, and it’s always been this ‘invincible’ country.
Maximus: No one is invincible, Patty. This war only confirms that for me. You know…
Patricia: What?
Maximus: I was thinking about what you said…you know, that last time before you left.
Patricia: … oh?
Maximus: Yea. And I’m starting to think you were right.
Patricia: Huh? You mean…?
Maximus:  Yea. None of us are going to live forever, and I want to spend as much time with you as possible. Things are going to change, baby girl.
Patricia: Oh, Max… I love you so much.
Maximus: I love you too, Patty.
Patricia:  Hehe. So, do you’ll think we’ll have a boy or girl first?
Maximus: Huh?
Patricia: I’m thinking we’ll have a baby girl first.
Maximus: Hehehehe HAHAHA! And you say I’m impatient. You’re going to have baby names picked out before you’re even pregnant, aren’t you?
Patricia: Of course! One has to be prepared….besides…
Maximus: Besides what?
Patricia:  How do you know I’m not already pregnant?
Maximus: Wha…!? Holy hell woman, you don’t mean that you’re actually…!?
Patricia: So what do you think of the name Melanie?
Maximus: … Melanie, huh? Wow. Just…wow.

Ninjas: Diaz and Cassie

Cassie: … …. … Hm?
Diaz; Is something wrong?
Cassie: Huh? Diaz?!? No, nothing’s wrong. I’m just taking a bath, for crying out loud!
Diaz: Sorry, I thought I heard something…
Cassie: Sigh, it’s ok. I just wish you’d stop being so over protective.
Diaz: I’m sorry, but you know I cannot. Your mother would disown my allegiance if something happened to you.
Cassie: I know. I just wish mother would treat me as a regular ninja, and stop giving me such preferred treatment. It sucks!
Diaz: Cassie…. You should be grateful you have such a protective mother.
Cassie: Huh?! Why would I?
Diaz:  Think if the alternative. My mother sold me to the ninjas of Rokkaku for a mere 2,000 potch.
Cassie: Really?
Diaz: Yes. I’ve never known my family, trained only by the masters of the village to be an assassin. Compared to that, I’d much rather have a mother who openly cared for me, wouldn’t you?
Cassie: Diaz… I’m sorry. I didn’t know…
Diaz: It’s no big deal.  I accepted that aspect of myself long ago. I only tell you this now so you will stop thinking of what if’s, and start accepting the reality. Your mother may be protective of you, but you have become one of the most respected named in protection and security in the whole clan. There is honor in that.
Cassie: Yea…I suppose you’re right. I never really thought of it that way. Thanks, Diaz.
Diaz: You’re welcome, Cassie.

Ruler and Retainer: Hikusaak and Bryce

Hikusaak: Ah, a hot tub. I’ve not felt such a luxury in… well, hundreds of years. It feels good, doesn’t it Bryce?
Bryce: I suppose so.
Hikusaak: Bryce… can’t you even relax, in a place like this?
Bryce: I suppose I’ve forgotten how to relax, sir.
Hikusaak: I see… Bryce, I must ask your forgiveness.
Bryce: My lord?
Hikusaak: When I founded Harmonia, I sought ways to control the 27 True Runes, and looked into Homunculi’s, as you know. I never intended to make you or your people slaves, though, as the Order of God seem to have done.
Bryce:  I am no one’s slave, my lord.
Hikusaak: No? And yet you blindly follow me, when you can’t even seem to feel. Why then?
Bryce:  … because I hate this world.
Hikusaak: Hate?
Bryce: With my rune, I can read the thoughts of people all around me. Too often those thoughts are for power, money, sex… it’s an ugly thing to see. And yet you… you fight for a better world. A world where people can actually live in Harmony… it is a noble goal. I want to believe in that world. I want to believe in your cause, and in the cause of this Union army. I can’t see the good of mankind, so I am putting my trust in you.
Hikusaak: Bryce… I don’t know if I am the whole you should follow. I have made many mistakes in my time…
Bryce: And I have not? We share the same blood, my lord. And yet….yet you see what I cannot. I will follow you until I understand what you see, the good of this world.
Hikusaak: Very well, Bryce. But I think you should spend more time with the union army. Do you see the good that they do?
Bryce: …. Yes. The thoughts of the people here are….not as bad.
Hikusaak: Well, that’s a start then.  We’ll make it work, Bryce. We’ll make it work.

Brothers: Caesar and Albert

Caesar: Hey Albert?
Albert: Yes?
Caesar: Can I ask you something?
Albert: Of course. You are lord of this army, after all.
Caesar: I guess that’s my point. Why did you join our army? You could have surrendered at Aeltion and left. No one would have forced you to work for us, and yet you decided to work under me. It’s not like you.
Albert: I have my reasons.
Caesar: And those are?
Albert: … Yuber.
Caesar: Yuber? What’s he got to do with anything?
Albert: As I’m sure you remember, I worked with him during the second fire bringer war. A being of such malice and bloodlust that I have never seen. When stationed at Aeltion, he was the one who attacked us.
Caesar: And…?
Albert: …the demon that is Yuber….he looked…..happy.
Caesar: Happy?
Albert: Yes. I didn’t get the report of what Yuber was doing until after, turning people into demons, but it made sense. Yuber hates humanity, and now he has the power to destroy us once and for all. I cannot allow that to happen.
Caesar: Huh. If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were doing something noble.
Albert: Of course not. If you must think of it at all, think of it this way: if humans are wiped out, there would be no one left to remember my genius.
Caesar: Ah, so that’s why you’re helping?
Albert: Of course. Isn’t it obvious?
Caesar: Yea, it is. Don’t worry, Albert. I won’t reveal the best of you.
Albert: Good. See that you don’t.

Family: Isis and Tina

Tina: Hey Isis…
Isis: Yes?
Tina: There’s no easy way to say this, but… when were you going to tell me?
Isis: Hm? Tell you what?
Tina: I saw the letter in your trash the other day. I know.
Isis: Hm? Oh, you mean the one about my parents? What about it?
Tina: What about it?! Isis, your parents are dead! How can you be so cold?
Isis: My parents beat me repeatedly, humiliated me daily, and disowned me for existing the first chance they got. I haven’t spoken to them in 15 years, Tina. It’s now like we were a caring family.
Tina: I know that! But still, for them to be turned into demons like that…
Isis: They got what they deserved. At least their outsides finally match their insides.
Tina:  Is that….how you truly feel, Isis?
Isis: It is. They were demons in human form, and now they are demons in the flesh as well. It’s fitting.
Tina: I see. I know my relationship with my parents isn’t the best, but I hope I never get to that point, Isis.
Isis: You and me both, lover.

Cooks: Hai Yo and Wakai

Wakai: Master?
Hai Yo: Oh, me? You don’t need to address me so formally, Wakai!
Wakai: I see. Hai Yo, then?
Hai Yo: Much better! What is it?
Wakai: How is it that I can become a better cook?
Hai Yo: Chefs the world over have wondered that, Wakai. What I say is this: cook for the love of cooking, for the joy of making other people happy. If you enjoy what you do, if you put your love into your cooking, then your food will taste like love. And Love is a more powerful spice than any other!
Wakai: Love, eh? That…seems kindy cheesy, Hai Yo.
Hai Yo: Yes, I’ve been told that many times. But it is the secret to my success. If you wish to follow in my footsteps, then you should remember this lesson! Incorporate it into your cooking, and you will one day surpass even me!
Wakai: You think so?
Hai Yo: Oh, I know so! You have such potential, Wakai!
Wakai: Ok! I’ll try cooking with love then! Wait and see, Hai Yo!
Hai Yo: Good Luck, Wakai. I hope you succeed.

Married Couple: Katherine and Luther

Katherine: Luther?
Luther: Hm? What is it babe?
Katherine: I…I have something to tell you.
Luther: Hm? Is it the baby? Did something happen?
Katherine: Yes…I’m afraid I miscarried again, Luther. I’m so sorry.
Luther:  Damn… I’m sorry sweetie. I know how much this means to you…
Katherine: To you as well. I’ve tried everything, but nothing seems to work.
Luther: Well, we’ll figure something out. If nothing else, we always have Sam, remember?
Katherine: I know… I just wish we could give him some siblings to play with. I’d love to raise a little girl one day…
Luther: I know, baby girl. I know. We’ll make it work. Somehow, we’ll make it work. For now, just relax. The hot springs will help you relax, just like in Kanarkan. Remember?
Katherine: How could I forget?  It was our honeymoon. It was absolutely perfect.
Luther: That it was. Just think of that, and relax.
Katherine: Ok…I’ll try.

Brothers: Elric and Elmdor

Elmdor: Hey Elric?
Elric: Yes, Elmdor?
Elmdor: Have you given any thought as to what we should do after this war?
Elric: Of course! We should pick up where we left off, going off to explore the world.
Elmdor: Still you persist in this idea? Hasn’t being nearly killed once been enough for you?
Elric: Eh, the basilisk got lucky. We won’t fall for that again, right Elmdor?
Elmdor: Spirits, you’re thick. How can you have no regard for self preservation?
Elric: Ok then, smarty pants. What are your thoughts for the future then?
Elmdor: Isn’t it obvious? We should return to Sanil and help with the restoration of our home!
Elric: Our home? Elmdor, everyone there has forgotten us! Moved on! There’s nothing there for us anymore!
Elmdor:  Maybe so, but it is still our home, and we have a responsibility as elves to our people.
Elric: As these humans say, “screw that!” We did our time as stone statues, or have you forgotten?!
Elmdor: Think you I would forget such a thing? No. But it is not our people’s fault we were so careless.
Elric: Whatever. I have no intention of going back there. I’ve spent enough time in the forests, and I’m going to see the world, with or without you!
Elmdor: I figured you’d say such a thing… well, where will we head first then?
Elric: Huh?
Elmdor: You didn’t really think I’d let you go alone, did you? I don’t agree with your plans, but that doesn’t mean I’m about to abandon my only brother.
Elric: You are as confusing as ever, my brother.
Elmdor: I could say the same of you. Now, where shall we head first?
Elric: I don’t know….how about…south?
Elmdor: Hehe….south it is then.

Dwarves: Mitch, Dalton, Dale

Dalton: So Dale, how’s that new armor working out for you?
Dale: Wonderful! It fits like a dream, and it protects like one too!
Dalton: Wonderful! I’m always happy to see a satisfied customer.
Mitch: Me too! How’s that steam powered axe I gave you working out?
Dale: Well…. To be honest, it kind of broke.
Mitch: What? Really? How did that happen?
Dale: I was practicing against Phoebe the other day, and the power chord was severed by her sword…
Mitch: Ah yes, that would do it. What happened then?
Dale:  Well, steam started blowing everywhere. Two soldiers were hurt, but Roy was able to treat them fine.
Mitch: I see… oh well. I guess its back to the drawing board for me! Ha ha!
Dalton: This Phoebe…what kind of armor did she wear?
Dale: Light leather! Can you believe it?
Dalton: No way!
Mitch: Humans can be weird like that. And then they call us eccentric!
Dalton: I know it! Anyone who doesn’t wear the sturdiest armor is just asking to get killed, and yet they go on about armor being “too heavy.” Bah! Weaklings who can’t wear armor shouldn’t be on the battlefield!
Dale: You said it. Still, they somehow make it work. Phoebe, for example, is really fast. I could barely land a blow on her!
Dalton: Hm, is that so?
Mitch: That’s it! I’ll make an armor that helps you move faster!
Dalton: Hey now! Now you’re on to something! We should get working on it, together!
Mitch: You’re right! Dale, would you be our test subject?
Dale: Of course!
Mitch: Right, let’s go!

Tinto Trouble: Lilly, Reed, Samus

Samus: Ah, what a relief! I thought we’d never get a break!
Reed: You’re telling me! The young lady only gets more and more adventurous as she gets older.
Samus: And we’re the ones left having to pick up the pieces!
Reed: Like the time she asked us to take her tests for her…
Samus: Or the time she left us with the check at that fancy restaurant she had to try…
Reed: Or the time she had us delivering messages to that ‘cute boy’ she liked without knowing his name…
Samus: And all the fights! All the bandits and thieves…
Reed:  Hunting mermaids in the north…
Samus:  A ‘vacation’ in the haunted dessert…
Reed:  And the random monsters in between!
Samus: I swear, this woman is going to be the death of us…
Lilly: Oh, I’m sure of it, seeing as I CAN HEAR YOUE EVERY WORD!
Reed: Oh no!
Samus: Mistress….we only meant…
Lilly: I know damn well what you meant!  Compalining about ME behind my back!? And you call yourselves my servants! What’s wrong with you two!?
Reed: Forgive us, my lady!
Samus: We didn’t mean any harm!
Lilly: I doubt that! This will be going on your records! And… I’m telling father!
Samus: No!
Reed: Not that! Please!
Lilly: You brought this on yourselves, boys! Excuse me, I have some letters to write home…
Reed: Oh man…this could be bad…
Samus: We might even get fired for this…
Reed: Fired… you mean… not working for Lilly?
Samus: …
Reed: …
Samus: You know, this might not be all bad…

Original Liberators: Dexter, Damien, Jonah

Damien: Oh yea, time for a bath, boys! Jump in!
Dexter:  Ah, that feels good…
Jonah: Yea….
Damien: Man, I haven’t enjoyed being in the water this much since we crashed the party at Crystal Valley… remember that?
Dexter: Oh, how could I forget? You, Jonah, and Pearl ignored every warning to make a flashy raid on a backyard bbq! I couldn’t believe it!
Damien: Hey, we have a good reason!
Dexter: And that was what, again?
Damien: Ah…you see…
Jonah: We wanted to remind the nobles of the 1st class we were still around, and they were not going to be able to ignore us.
Damien: Uh yea, that!
Dexter: And clearly the best way to do that was to crash a party.
Damien: Hell yea! We were able to eat out fill before anyone knew we were crashing! It was the best mission we ever did together…
Jonah and Dexter: …
Damien: Sigh… gods, I miss Pearl.
Jonah: Don’t we all.
Dexter: That we do. But remember what Pearl used to say: this movement is about more than just a person, it’s about freedom for all people. So long as we fight for it still, we honor her memory.
Damien: You got that right. And I intend to honor her by fighting any and everyone who stands in the way!
Jonah: Agreed!
Dexter: I know I’m no fighter, but I too will do my part. For Pearl.
Jonah and Damien: For Pearl!

Stage Show: Lydia, Amber, and Erica

Erica: Oh, a hot springs! Surely this will inspire my muse to write beautiful music!
Amber: Hm? You’re a bard?
Erica: Indeed I am, the most famous in the land! And you are?
Amber: Amber, a dancer.
Erica: Oh, a dancer, eh? That gives me a great idea! We should do a show together!
Amber: Hm? Well, it could be interesting, I suppose… why not?
Erica: Excellent! With my help, you’ll go far, my dear! Now all we need is a place to perform… what about the theater, eh Lydia?
Lydia: Hm? Oh um, well, are stage isn’t really meant for that…
Erica: Oh, come on! It will be fun, won’t it?
Lydia: I don’t know…I guess it can’t hurt…
Erica: Great! We have ourselves a show and a stage!  Just leave it to me, and everything will be ok!
Lydia: Um… if you say so?
Amber: Ok, what should we do then?
Erica: I’ll write up everything, wait and see! We’re going to be famous!
Amber: I thought you said you already were famous…?
Erica: Details, my dear! Details! Now I’m thinking, we should do the first act like this…
Lydia and Erica: (Thinking: What did I just agree too…?)

Stage show 2: Lydia, Erica, Amber

Erica: Well, I think it went very well.
Amber: How can you say that?!
Erica: Well, we’re still alive, aren’t we?
Amber: That’s how you judge a good show?! By being alive?!
Lydia: You were booed off the stage! My stage!
Amber: I’ve never been more humiliated in my life!
Erica: So we had a few small setbacks…
Amber: Setbacks!? This was a disaster! What were you thinking with the over acting?!
Lydia: And those costumes!
Amber: And the music!
Erica: Hey, my music was just fine!
Amber: Tell that to the people who threw those tomatoes at you!
Erica: Well….some people might not appreciate fine music…
Amber: Arg, I’m not listening to this anymore. Excuse me.
Erica: Huh. I wonder what her problem is?
Lydia: …

Fathers: Flik, Viktor, Humphrey

Flik: Hey, a hot spring. Shall we?
Viktor: Oh yeah, I could go for that.
Flik: Ah, that’s more like it. I hate to say it, but this feels good on these aging bones…
Humphrey: … yea.
Viktor: We’re not young guys anymore, that’s for sure. You remember what we talked about before?
Flik: Yea… it’s getting about time we retired, and let the girls take over from here…but do you think they can go it alone without us?
Viktor: I had my doubts before, but seeing Daisy and them in this current war, seeing them rescue us…
Flik: Heh. Yea, that was pretty sloppy of us, eh?
Viktor: Bah! If I were 20 years younger, I could have taken em myself.
Flik: True, but that’s just isn’t it? We’re not 20 years younger.  Sigh… I hate to think of retiring, but I don’t think I have another war in me…
Humphrey: Yea….
Viktor: Well then, I guess we old guys can retire after this war, and leave the rest to the girls. Agreed?
Flik: Agreed.
Humphrey:  Yea…
Flik: I guess all that needs to be decided now is what will we do after this?
Viktor, Flik and Humphrey: …
Viktor: Well… I suppose we could open a fighting dojo…didn’t Genkaku do that till his 80’s?
Flik: Heh… yea. Figures your first thought is to go back to fighting…
Viktor: Hey, this is totally different!
Flik: Oh yea? And who is going to pay for you to tell them to “whack the enemy with a sword?”
Viktor: I don’t know, lots of people!
Flik: I think we need to think about this one a little more…
Humphrey: Yea…

Sindar Seekers: Lorelei, Dale, and Serena

Serena:  Ah, this water feels good.
Dale: I hear it’s an old magic. A sindar secret, from what I hear.
Lorelei:  The Sindar have many secrets. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is one of them.
Serena: Me either. The sindar are known for their healing techniques.
Dale: Aye, they are. You know a bit of the sindar?
Serena: I do.  I spent more than a few years exploring sindar ruins. Though I hear that’s nothing compared to Lorelei’s exploits…
Dale: Oh? I’ve always wondered about the sindar, but I’ve never had much luck finding anything.
Lorelei: The Sindar are very elusive… many can spend their whole lives searching, and find nothing.
Dale: So I’ve heard. But what have you found, Lorelei?
Lorelei:  … disappointment.
Serena: Ha! Isn’t that the truth. All the treasure in the world won’t bring back my leg.
Dale: Maybe not, but a mountain of gold would bring you many other things, that’s for sure…
Lorelei: If all you seek is gold, then the secrets of the sindar will forever elude you.
Dale: Eh? What is that supposed to mean?
Lorelei: You heard me.
Serena:  I ah, think she means that the secrets of the sindar are more than just piles of gold.
Dale: I know what she meant, lass. But what could be more valuable than gold?
Lorelei: If you have to ask, then it will never be yours, dwarf.
Dale:  Eh? What will I never find?
Lorelei:  I think I’ve had enough of this bath. Excuse me.
Dale: Eh? Wait! I don’t get it.
Serena: You will one day, Dale. I’m sure of it.

Race Leaders: Wayne, Cyrus, Xavier, Adaline

Adaline: Hehe. Here we all are then?
Cyrus: So it would seem.
Wayne: It’s been a long time since we all have gathered together.  A good ten years, yes?
Xavier: Yes, though I would hardly call that long.
Wayne: Hmp. Well, not all of us live for as long as you elves do.
Adaline: Now now, there’s no need for hostility.
Cyrus: Quite right. We finally have a common cause, a chance to be truly free for the first time in years. This is no time for infighting.
Wayne: Agreed. If we win this war, all of our people will reap the benefits.
Cyrus: If? We’ve got this war practically won!
Xavier: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Cyrus.  We must exercise due caution.
Adaline: Indeed. We can’t let down our guard.  Too many lives depend on us.
Cyrus: I suppose so, but I don’t see any army being able to stand up to our combined power.
Xavier: True. When the people of all races work together, there is nothing we can’t accomplish.
Adaline: A pity humans often forget this, eh?
Wayne: Not all humans, Adaline. These Union army folks seem alright.
Cyrus: Yes, but how many years will it take for them or their ancestors to forget again? History repeats, you know.
Xavier: All too true. But we cannot focus on the negative. We must press on for a better future, and hope that humans will learn to accept us for good.
Adaline: You think them capable of that, Xavier?
Xavier: I do.
Wayne: Well then, all we can do is wait and see.
Cyrus: And guide them when they falter.
Adaline: Well, if you have faith in them, Xavier, so will I.
Xavier: Thank you, Adaline. Here’s to the future then.
All: To the future!

Knights: Fred, Rico, Isis, Tina

Rico: Look, master Fred! A hot spring! I do love those!
Fred: Hm? Well, a short break can’t hurt now, can it? Even knights get time off.
Tina: I should hope so! If we didn’t, we’d go as crazy as that old Maximillian guy!
Fred: What?!  How dare you! MY grandfather was not crazy!
Isis: He was your grandfather? Oh wow.
Tina: Seriously? You’re the grandson of THE Maximillian?
Fred: I am indeed! Who are you go about throwing insults so lightly?
Tina: My apologies. I am Tina, a knight of Harmonia.
Isis: And I am Isis. Same.
Fred: Knights? Ha! Knights should know better than to insult one another!
Tina: Look, I’m sorry, ok? Your grandfather is a legend around here, but it’s said he wasn’t all there at the end…
Rico: That’s not true at all!
Isis: So the rumors were false? I see. Do forgive ue, sir…?
Fred: Fred Maximillian.
Tina: Fred, eh? It’s good to meet another knight. Especially one so famous!
Fred: Famous? Me?
Isis: The grandson of Maxmimillian… that is a hard title to live up to.
Rico: Master Fred can do it though! He’s the best!
Tina: The best, eh? I’d like to see the power of the best. We should spar sometime. What do you say?
Fred: Fine by me! I will glady show off the power of the ‘famous’ Maxmimillian knights!
Rico: Master Fred, don’t let the fame go to your head… please…

Flyer Fight: Milia, Thrash, Maximus, Bertha

Milia: Ah, this is just what I need. Don’t you agree, Thrash?
Thrash: GRAAAAA!!
Maximus: Woah! Was that a dragon I just heard?
Milia: It was. I hope it doesn’t bother you, mr…?
Maximus: Maximus. It doesn’t bother me. I’m from Le Buque, a mantor trainer. Isn’t that right, Bertha?
Bertha: SQEEEEEEEEE!!!
Milia: Ah yes, I’ve heard of your people.  Futch told me that the mantors are more agile than dragons, but not as strong…
Maximus: Not as strong?! Bah! My mantors could take on any dragon, any day!
Milia: Is that right? I think me and Thrash might have something to say about that.
Maximus: Oh yea? Well then, let’s settle this here and now!
Amelia: Hey! There’s no fighting in the bath house! Take it outside!
Maximus: Grr, fine! Let’s go, Bertha!
Bertha: SQEEEEEEE!!
Milia: Ready Thrash?
Thrash: GRRRAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Mercenary Meet up: Geddoe, Ace, Queen, Joker, Jacques, Aila

Ace: Oh man, now this is how to relax!
Joker: Hm, it is rather nice, isn’t it?
Queen: We need to get one of these at Headquarters…
Aila: Oh, can we?
Ace: Hey now, do you know how much these cost? We’d have to give up drinking or something…
Joker: Hmp. Not likely. I can’t imagine a day without drinking.
Queen: Likewise.
Ace: Man, you guys are pathetic…can’t you imagine bringing a date back to HQ to relax in one of these?
Queen: Leave it to you to think of that.
Geddoe: … Thinking of dating…. I hear Duke and Elaine are finally getting married.
Ace: Really? I don’t know what she sees in him…
Joker: You just don’t like since she broke up with you.
Ace: It was mutual, I tell you!
Queen: Anyway, why bring that up? Something on your mind, Captain?
Geddoe: We’re invited to the wedding.
Queen: Us? Seriously?
Ace: They must realize they owe their lives to us, or something.
Geddoe: Possibly. You guys want to go?
Ace: Sure, why not? I hear weddings are a great place to meet woman…
Queen: You’re disgusting. I suppose we should, but I don’t think it’s such a good idea.
Aila: It’s a party, right? Why wouldn’t we go?
Jacques: … Let’s go.
Joker: Hm? You want to go too? I suppose it can’t hurt, eh?
Geddoe: Ok. I’ll make sure we get the time off, and Viki can teleport us there.
Queen: Damn… I can’t believe that woman is getting married before me…
Ace: Hm? Something wrong, Queen?
Queen: Mind your own business!

Reunion?: Hikusaak, Jeane, Viki

Jeane: Hm, nothing beats a good hot tub.
Hikusaak: Hm? That voice… Lady Jeane, could that be you?
Jeane: Why yes, it is me. Hikusaak, yes?
Hikusaak: It’s been a long time. I didn’t know you possessed a true rune.
Jeane: Clearly you are mistaken. I have no such rune.
Viki: I know that for a fact!
Hikusaak: Viki!? How is this possible… it’s been nearly 400 years since you two helped me create Harmonia!
Viki: Huh? I did that?
Hikusaak: Of course you did! Don’t you remember?
Jeane: I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Viki: Me either. Sorry.
Hikusaak: This is most confusing… I wonder if the Chronus Rune is to blame for this?
Jeane: Ho ho ho… I suppose such a thing is possible…
Hikusaak: (And yet…. Why do I get the feeling it has nothing to do with this? I will have to investigate this later…)

Bar Hopers: Rosalita, Ramza, Bandit Bill, Viktor

Ramza: Oh ho ho, a good soak is just what I need.
Viktor: You said it old man.
Ramza: The only thing that would make this better is a cold beer…
Viktor: Hell yea! Hey Rosalita, fetch us a drink would you?
Ramza: Make it two!
Rosalita: Do I look like I’m working right now!? I’m trying to relax!
Ramza: Hm, true. I wonder if Bandit Bill would be free?
Bandit Bill: Um, I’m right here.
Viktor: Awesome! Go get us a drink then!
Bandit Bill: But…
Rosalita: You heard them! Fetch them their drinks, on the double!
Bandit Bill: Sigh… coming right up….
Viktor: Sweet deal!
Ramza: Most wonderful!
Bandit Bill: Speak for yourselves… why do I never get any luck?

Ex-Harmonian’s: Faye, Marcus, Reuben, Sasari, Lucius, Lena, Bryce

Faye: Well well well…. Isn’t this a strange reunion, eh?
Marcus: Ha! I’d say so. Who would have ever thought so many of us would be fighting in this Union Army?
Lucius: God works in mysterious ways, my friends.
Reuben: So he does, old friend. I never would have guessed you to come out of retirement, for example!
Lena: We all do as must, no?
Sasari: That is the truth of it. Our country is no more, and we can only help now to protect the people, regardless of what flag flies over head.
Marcus: I suppose so. But it’s a sobering thought to think of all we fought for in Harmonia’s name is now gone…
Sasari: So it is. While cannot forget the dead, we must fight on for the living.
Faye: True. Still, I heard that they announced Priest General Kristen as officially being dead.
Reuben: It was only a matter of time.
Lena: That would mean seven of the current Priest Generals have fallen…
Faye: And the rest of us ended up here. Ironic, that only we ‘traitors’ survived, eh?
Bryce: Irony nothing. Those like Nolan and Zachary died fighting to the end. They were true warriors.
Lucius: There is no honor in throwing one’s life away, Bryce. Where there is life, there is hope.
Marcus: Hope, eh? While I don’t know about you guys, but I hope to get back at Camaro for all the lives they have stolen! For Kristen and Wanda…
Reuben: For Delilah and Reginald…
Bryce: For Nolan…
Faye: And Zachary…
Sasari: And Agatha, too.
Lena: We shall all fight, for all those lives lost.
Lucius: May God bless us endeavors, and help us protect his people.
All: Amen.

True Runes Reunited: Hugo, Chris, Geddoe, and Sasari

Chris: Ah, that feels nice.
Hugo: Hm? Lady Chris, is that you?
Chris: It is, Hugo. How have you been?
Hugo: Good, good. Yourself?
Chris: Well, thank you. It’s been too long since we worked together, hasn’t it?
Sasari: Too long, lady Chris.
Chris: Sasari, too?
Geddoe:  It seems to be a day for reunions.
Chris: So it seems. How are you, Geddoe? Sasari?
Geddoe: I am well.
Sasari: As am I.
Hugo: Seems strange for us all to be fighting together again, eh?
Sasari: Not really. We all fought to save the world once, it is no wonder we do so again.
Chris: It is a knight’s duty to help the people. As long as they are in danger, we who have power must use it to protect those in need.
Geddoe:  It is not unusual for those with True Runes to affect the course of history, Hugo.
Hugo: I suppose so. There certainly are many True Runes involved in this war.
Sasari: That is also not unusual. The True Runes will often turn up in these kind of wars.
Chris: True enough. With all the runes involved, we will all have to give it our best. The stakes are too high for us to fail.
Geddoe: Then we won’t fail.
Hugo:  That’s easy enough to say, but it’s not going to be easy.
Sasari:  Nothing worthwhile ever is.

Heroes of the Past: Riou, Jowy, Eilie, Nanami

Nanami: OHHHH a hot spring! Let’s go! Let’s go!
Eilie: Oh, yes. This feels wonderful!
Jowy: I suppose it’s not that bad…
Nanami: OHHHH why do you always have to be like that? Can’t you just say it’s good and leave it that?!
Jowy: Sorry, Nanami… it really is good.
Riou: … Yea.
Nanami: See? Even Riou says so!
Jowy: I guess so.
Eilie: Is something bothering you two?
Jowy: No… it’s just weird getting caught up in another war…I didn’t ever want to be in this position again…
Nanami: Well, it’s not like we’re a part of this one. We’re just helping out a little, is all. Right? Right?
Riou: … right.
Eilie: When the heaving fighting starts, we’ll stay out of it. Agreed?
All: Agreed.
Nanami: Good! Now we can visit Pilike…er… Patricia and not worry!
Jowy: Yea… that will be nice.
Eilie: I know I’m happy to see her. Right Riou?
Riou: … yes.
Nanami: Me too! There’s so much we need to catch up on!
Jowy: We have time, Nanami. Plenty of time…
Nanami: yea, you’re right…. I’m just so excited!

Heroes of the Past 2: Flik, Viktor, Tir McDohl, Gremio

Gremio: Hm, a hot spring…shall we rest, Master?
McDohl: … sure.
Flik: Hey McDohl. Good to see you again. It’s been how many years now?
Gremio: Too many, I’m sure.
Viktor: Ah, Gremio. I’ve missed your cooking. It was the one thing you were ever good at it…
Gremio: What?! I am just as good a fighter as you, Viktor!
Viktor: Yea right. My daughter could beat you silly, Gremio.
Gremio: Your…daughter!? You have a child?
Flik: He does. I do too, incidentally.
Gremio: Well, if that doesn’t beat all. Congrats, both of you.
Flik: Thank you.
Viktor: So what’s the deal? I know McDohl hasn’t aged because of the True Rune, but why aren’t you all old and grey, Gremio?
Gremio: Oh, that. Well it’s complicated, but my soul is still technically attached to the Soul Eater.
Flik: What?! You mean from when you….died?
Gremio: Yes. Since I am bound by the rune as well, I’ve not aged since then either.
Viktor: Weird. So you’re like a soulless vampire then?
Gremio: I am not a vampire!
Viktor: You sure? Cause I’d hate to have to kill you.
Flik: I think he would know, Viktor. Besides, do you really think McDohl would let him live if he killed other people?
Viktor: Yea, I guess you’re right. Sorry about that.
Gremio: No harm done. We’re old friends, after all. You should come by our place later, and we can catch up over some stew…oh no! I forget I left some stew on! Excuse me!
Flik: … some things never change, eh?
Viktor: That’s for sure, eh McDohl?
McDohl: Yea…

Old Timers: Sierra, Xavier, Cyrus, Jeane, Faye

Xavier: Hm, a hot springs is just what these old bones require.
Cyrus: You said it, my friend. It’s not easy getting old.
Sierra: Hm, I suppose you mortals would have a harder time with it.
Cyrus: Hm? What’s that supposed to mean?
Sierra: Oh, nothing. I’m just a child of 826. What do I know?
Cyrus: 826?! And here I thought I was old at 478!
Sierra: I’m not “old,” thank you very much. I am as young as ever.
Xavier: That’s the way to look at it. I’m still a kid at heart, even at 670.
Faye: A kid at heart, eh? Not bad for one with so many wrinkles.
Cyrus: Hm! What would you know about it? I doubt you’ve even 30!
Faye: Oh, I’m much older than that. But you’ll never see a wrinkle on this pretty face.
Sierra: Hm? Do you possess a true rune?
Faye: Nope.
Xavier: Then how…?
Faye: That’s a trade secret… right Jeane?
Jeane: Ho ho ho ho…. That’s right.
Sierra: And just how old are you, Jeane?
Jeane: He he he…  sorry, but I can’t tell  you that. Don’t you know it’s rude to ask a woman her age?
Sierra: From what I know of you Jeane, it wouldn’t surprise me if you were the oldest person here.
Jeane: Ha ha ha ha….well, maybe…
Cyrus: What? Really?
Faye:  Of course not. We could never be that old. Right Jeane?
Jeane: He he he he…. I suppose not, eh?
Xavier: You two… are quite strange…

Camaro: Dianna, Gregory, Janell, Hilda

Dianna:  Hm, a hot spring….shall we relax a bit?
Janell: Oh, let’s.
Hilda: Oh, that feels good.
Dianna: Indeed. I am so relieved to be able to spend time like this with you all. While I was under Windy’s spell, I feared my actions would be the death of you all.
Gregory: Do not fret, my Queen. It was not your actions, but Windy’s. Besides, we are all safe.
Janell: Indeed, and reunited once more for a common goal.
Hilda: To kick Windy and Yuber’s demon using ass!
Dianna: Ha! Well said, Hilda. We will kick their asses, as you say.
Gregory: Yes, and we shall restore honor to the name of Camaro. This I Swear!
Janell: As do I! We may have fallen from grace in the eyes of the world, but so long as I live and breathe, the honor of Camaro will be restored!
Hilda: I know I’m the newest here and all, but I liked being a part of the old Camaro. If we can go back to those days, then you can count me in too!
Dianna: I do not deserve such loyalty… but I thank you for it all the same. As you have sworn your oaths, let me swear this: I swear I will do my utmost to be worthy of the faith you have in me.
Gregory: You always shall, my Queen. I know it.
Janell: We wouldn’t be here if not for you, my lady. Worry not.
Hilda: Yea, what they said!
Dianna: Thank you all. Let us work together to rebuild a new Camaro, one with honor.
All: Yes!

Mentor Reunion: Futch, Humphrey

Humphrey: ... you look well.
Futch: As do you, old man. I was worried when I heard you were going into yet another war. HAven't you thought of retiring yet?
Humphrey: Yea... this might be the end for one like me.
Futch: Huh? I never thought I'd get you to agree with me. What's wrong? Are you hurt?
Humphrey: No... just old, I suppose. It's getting harder and harder to even out my armor on, never mind move in it. I'll do this one last war with the girls, and then... who knows?
Futch: Well, if you need a place to retire, you know you are always welcome at the dragon's den, my friend. I owe you that much.
Humphrey: Thank you... but there is one place I'd like to go again before....you know...
Futch: Yea, I know. Still, the offer remains. You send word and i'll come find you wherever you are, and give you the dragon express to where ever you need. That's a promise.
Humphrey: Thank you.

Reveleations: Pesmerga, Jeane, Faye

Faye: So I guess the cat's out of the bag now, huh? The humans will know we're not like them.
Jeane:  I suppose so...hehehe...
Faye: Bout time too. I needed to stretch out my wings for so long, but can't in this disguise.
Pesmerga: Thank you both for your help....I know you don't like to reveal yourselves like that, but i would have lost to Yuber on my own.
Jeane: Don't worry. After all, what is family for? Who can you count on if not your big sister?
Faye: Hmp! Don't give me that. You two talk big, but you went and left me behind in the demon realm for years!
Jeane: You were too young at the time.
Pesmerga: Hunting Yuber was to be my job, not yours. Jeane should never have gotten involved, but she was a big help in giving me clues to where to find him...
Faye: Yea, yea, whatever. Don't think I'm forgiving you that easily!
Pesmerga: As you wish.
Jeane: Come on, let me wash your wings for you, and calm down.
Faye: Oh, that sounds nice. Thanks Jeane!
Jeane: Not a problem, little sister. We all have to look out for each other.

Mother/daughter: Patricia and Juliet

Patricia: Mom?
Juliet: Yes?
Patricia: I heard that Daisy woman is a relative of ours, and she knows our secret. Any idea if that is true?
Juliet: ... yes, it's true. She talked to me the other day.  I didn't dare confirm anything, not even after all this time... I'm such a fool, my dear.
Patricia: No you're not! You're just protecting us as you always have. That's what moms do. You may not have given birth to me, but you are my mother to me.
Juliet: ... Thank you, my dear, dear daughter. I never would have guessed any of this when we first came here, but i'm glad to have had you all this time. I'm going to miss you when you move to Le Buque.
Patricia: Then come with me! We have plenty of room, and money enough to spare to buy you a house if you prefer.
Juliet: I will....think about it.
Patricia: do so, please. I love Max, but I hate feeling like I have to choose you or him, you know?
Juliet: I know far, far too well, my love. Ok, i'll do it.
Patricia: Really? Oh, thank you, mom!
Juliet: I'll try it out at least. Just don't hold it agaisnt me if it doesn't work out, ok?
Patricia: We'll make it work! You'll see!

Goneril: Oh father, your idea is magnificent! Know that my love for you is as deep as any ocean, and as large as the largest mountain! None matter more to me than you.
King Lear: I see, I see….your love is impressive… what say you, Regan?
Regan: Father, my love for you burns brighter than any star, and is wide as the sky at night. My love is bigger than the moon in the sky. This is how much I love you.
King Lear: Splendid, splendid! Now what say you, Cordelia? My youngest and most favorite daughter, tell me, how much do you love me?
Cordelia: … Father…
King Lear: Hm? Speak up, my dear.
Cordelia: Father, I will not take part in this foolish plan. I love you as any daughter should love their father, but I shall not stand here and lie about moons and mountains, for they would only be an insult. If you do not know how much I love you already, what good will lies and flattery do?
King Lear: I….I never! This is an outrage! No more shall you be my daughter! I banish you from my sight!
Kent: My king, no!
King Lear: It is decided!
Cordelia: As you wish, father. I hope you do not come to regret this decision.
Narrator: And so the youngest daughter, Cordelia, was cast out of the kingdom. Lear split the country into two between his other daughters, who after becoming queens turned their back on him.
